Two New Inductions

Observant users of our site may have noticed that we have added two new inductions to the site this month. Both inductions are straightforward and fairly easy to use. They are both relaxation-based, but don't let that put you off if you are not a fan of Progressive Muscle Relaxation inductions. There is nothing long-winded about these inductions and both have more of a interactive feel to them than a typical PMR. Tension Observation The Tension Observation induction invites clients to pay attention to a small area of tension in their body. This is then increased, before you decrease it and subsequently emphasise the feeling of relaxation. Think of it as having a volume control with which you can turn...

RIP to a legend in his lifetime!

Jon Chase

My introduction to the world of hypnosis took place in 2008, when I trained with Jonathan Chase in 'Original Hypnosis.' Talk about jumping in at the deep end! The man oozed presence and a certain kind of animal magnetism that was wonderfully apt for the task at hand. I drove home from that training and went straight to my brother's house. I hypnotised him and had his hand stuck to his lap in the blink of an eye. I was so astonished to see this stuff really work out in the 'real world' that the two of us went into town and repeated the same simple exercise in a couple of pubs. I was hooked. Over time, I began to...

Train in The Miracle Method(s) Nov. 2023

On November 4-5, I will be running a two-day training event in Stockholm, Sweden. The Miracle Method(s): Acceptance, Possibilities and Personal ChangeDay 1: Getting UnstuckDay 2: Moving Forward What do NLP, Buddhism, Solution-focused therapy and acceptance-based coaching have in common? And how is Milton Erickson the glue that holds it all together? At this event we will learn how embracing our life 'as it is' may actually be the key to experiencing effective change. Yet, paradoxically, setting out to intentionally change things may be the root of apathy and stagnation. : More than that, we will: Discover the dynamic effectiveness of brief acceptance See why mindfulness is so much more than just a fad Understand what connects Erickson, Zen Buddhism...

Therapeutic Inductions Training, July 2022!

Therapeutic Inductions Training

"THERAPEUTIC INDUCTIONS" is a relatively new approach to hypnotherapy. This method, rooted in Ericksonian hypnosis and solution-focused therapy, uses Inductions as an essential part of therapy, not merely the gateway into hypnosis. If you’ve ever received hypnosis, or even if you are a hypnotherapist, you’ll recognise the familiar structure of: Induction, Deepener, Therapy, Wake-up. The usual tension felt by therapists is between making sure the clients are “under” enough during the induction and deepening and then getting to the therapy where the real magic happens. The tension is that the therapist wants to focus on the therapy, to see people change, but ends up focusing upon the induction, because it is felt that if he/she doesn’t do that part properly...

Whoops! My bad!

Well, we really dropped the ball on this one, eh? Here at How to do Inductions, we are supposed to be providing you with weekly updates (in the form of an article and/or tutorial), as well as a monthly newsletter - and we have done neither! If it helps, it has not been through disinterest or neglect. A number of our other websites were hacked, so we have been working over-time to recover, fix and protect them. Given how many members this site has, it also necessitated ensuring howtodoinductions was extra secure. So, whilst you may not have seen us out here serving tables, believe me - we've been busy in the kitchen! Yet, before all of that activity, we...
